Russian dancer Ganna Makarova from New YorkRussian dancer Ganna Makarova graduated from the State Institute of Theater (Moscow, Russia) and Long Island University (New York City). She performs with Russian dance and music ensemble Barynya since 1993. Back in Moscow, Russia Ganna was working in the comedy show of famous Russian comedian Mikhail Zhvanetsky (Moscow, USSR). Ganna professionally performs Russian, Klezmer, Gypsy, Cossacks and Ukrainian traditional dances. She is one of the founders of New York Can-Can dancers. Brighton Beach Festival of Russian music, dance and culture on May 18th, 2008 was organized by one of New York Russian Radio Stations, CITY RADIO 540AM. Barynya performed in the beginning of the concert. Five dancers and two musicians were on the stage built near the south end of Coney Island Avenue (next to Boardwalk) in Brooklyn, New York. Dancers Valentina Kvasova, Ganna Makarova, Olga Chpitalnaia, Danila Sherstobitov, Alexey Maltsev performed Russian dances "Barynya", "Metelitsa", "Kalinka", "Korobushka", Cossack dance Varenka, and Ukrainian folk dance "Hopak". Barynya performed many shows, Russian & Ukrainian dance workshops from July 17 to July 28, 2007. Performance locations included Lakeside, Warren, Marietta, Jackson and Grandview Heights.
