Svetlana Smirnova and Yury Selivanov have been working in the genre of a traditional Russian folk music for many years. The clear voice of singer Svetlana Smirnova and the soft baritone of Yury Selivanov rivet the audience's attention. Their emotional performances exite many of their fans in Russia. People apploaded to songs of Russian folk duo in Norway, Sweden, Holland, France, Belgium, England, Indonisia and Mexica. Duo introduced traditional culture of Russian folklore in more then 40 countries all over the world.
Yury skilfully plays the bayan, garmoshka, balalika, guitar and Svetlana accompanies him
playing traditional Russian folk percussion instruments - rattles,
spoons, tambourine.
"A red berry is born" - a slow cossacks song of tragic love of a cossack towards a lass. The destiny separates them. Interpretation is wide and flowing "The Tver chastushkas" - short funny couplets. Traditionally it is performed by young people together with dancing with accompaniment of bayan, garmoshka or balalaika. "Village-village" - this playful cossack's song was sung by solgiers during military compaigns while riding horses. The scanning caracter of the song, resilient rhythm transmit the spirit of a marching song. Right now Honored performers of Russia Russian folk song duo Svetlana Smirnova and Yury Selivanov are members of Moscow state musical folklore theatre "Russkaya pesnya" (director Nadezhda Babkina).

"Зародилась красна ягодка" - протяжная песня о любви парня к девушке, с которой его разлучила судьба. Поётся широко, распевно. "Тверские частушки" - веселые игровые куплеты. Обычно исполняется молодежью, которая приплясывает под зажигательную музыку баяна, гармошки или балалайки. "Деревня-деревня" - песня исполнялась в военных походах солдатами, едущими на лошадях. Скандирующий характер песни, упругий ритм передают походный марш.

Дочь - Селиванова Нина Юрьевна (род. 25.12.1985 г.).
