Honored performers of Russia Svetlana Smirnova and Yury Selivanov (Russian: Светлана Смирнова и Юрий Селиванов) have been working in the genre of a traditional Russian folk music for many years. The clear voice of singer Svetlana Smirnova and the soft baritone of Yury Selivanov rivet the
audience's attention. Both Svetlana and Youry were graduated from Moscow State University of Culture and Arts. Currently the duo is based in Moscow, Russia. Recently Svetlana and Yury started to perform as a trio with thier daughter, professional singer Nina Selivanova.
Their emotional performances exite many of their fans in Russia.
People apploaded to songs of Russian folk duo in Norway, Sweden, Holland,
France, Belgium, England, Indonisia and Mexica.
Duo introduced traditional culture of Russian folklore in more then 40 countries all over the world.
Yury skilfully plays the bayan, garmoshka, balalika, guitar and Svetlana accompanies him
playing traditional Russian folk percussion instruments - rattles,
spoons, tambourine.
The duet always appears in traditional Russian folk costumes which add
a vivid colouring to the performers' looks. They have been
practically all over the world with a continuing success.
The Duet can beatify any concert program.
From the repertuare of "Russian Duet":
"A red berry is born" - a slow cossacks song of tragic love of
a cossack towards a lass. The destiny separates them. Interpretation
is wide and flowing
"The Tver chastushkas" - short funny couplets.
Traditionally it is performed by young people together
with dancing with accompaniment of bayan, garmoshka or balalaika.
"Village-village" - this playful cossack's song was sung by solgiers
during military compaigns while riding horses. The
scanning caracter of the song, resilient rhythm transmit
the spirit of a marching song.
