Russian singer Marina Zhuravleva from Calgary, Canada
Russian singer Marina Zhuravleva (Russian: Марина Журавлёва) is currently based in Calgary, Canada.
She is a professional performer of popular Russian songs, traditional songs of old Russia, and Russian Gypsy repertoire.
Marina was born in town of Khabarovsk, the second largest city in the Russian Far East after Vladivostok. Khabarovsk is located 30 kilometers from the Chinese-Russian border.
Marina's grandfather Nikolai Suvorov was in the military, her father was serving as the Russian navy pilot.
Marina still remembers how when she was a small child her grandfather Nikolai loved to play wooden spoons.
Marina started singing and playing piano when she was four years old.
She graduated from the Mineralovodsky Musical College in Russia with a Diploma of Music Teacher.
Marina sings at weddings, socials, banquets, parties and anniversaries. She is available to work in the United States. Marina Zhuravleva has performed on a stage like a solo singer at Heritage Day Festivals, Alberta's Centennial Celebrations, various Winter Festivals. Marina has given performance in Winnipeg at the Folklorama 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009
There is not a musical instrument in Russia that can produce sounds as beautiful, and as heart-rending as the voice of a Russian woman. Marina has no problem to cross over from popular Russian, Ukrainian music to traditional songs and dances of Russia.
