Videos from concert on Thursday, July 18 at the Peabody Essex Museum (PEM) for a celebration of Midsummer Night with cocktails, conversation and Russian music and dance performances by the Barynya Russian Dance, song and music Ensemble of New York City.
Established in 1991, ensemble Barynya presented Russian, Cossack, Ukrainian and Jewish traditional dancing and music on instruments including the balalaika, balalaika contrabass, guitar and garmoshka.
The program of the performance included "Pidmanula", "Barynya", "Subboteya", "Hopak", "Dark Eyes", "Cossack dance", Ivan Kupala dance, "Moscow Nights", Balalaika Medleys, "Katyusha", "Kalinka", "Two Guitars", "The Long Road", "Along The Don River", and other popular selections.
Ensemble Barynya is available for hire for the performing art centers, school assemblies, festivals, colleges, libraries, concert halls, restaurants, private and corporate events as one powerful ensemble or in smaller groups.
