The Kozak Family Trio is a world renowned Belarusian folk song and music group which has not only performed around the world with renditions of Eastern European folklore as well as contemporary music, but has also diligently made it it’s mission to promote cultural understanding through the Arts.
The group has toured the globe and performed in such venues as Lincoln Center and the United Nations. The Kozaks have also held lectures, created workshops and symposiums on cultural understanding, and the empowerment through music and art. Originally from Belarus, a country with a rich musical and cultural history, Valentina, Alexander and Olyia have been in the United States since 1990. They are currently working on a world music/ambiance album based on Belarusian and Eastern European ethnic songs.
Valentina Parhomenko-Kozak is "The Distinguished Artist of Belarus", and the top Performer of European Folklore (a title and medal awarded to her in 1986 in Bratislava). Valentina was a soloist of the Belarusian National Radio and Television, Artistic Director of Ensemble "Zhivica". She has been called the "Golden Voice of Belarus". Valentina has traveled the globe with various ensembles and orchestras, worked with award winning composers.
Alexander Kozak is a Former Soloist of the National Radio and Television of Belarus, renowned bass baritone who effortlessly performs Eastern European Folk music, Gypsy ballads as well as Italian Arias.
Olyia is the daughter of Valentina and Alexander. She has been performing and touring with her parents since the age of six. Olyia has established herself as a singer, songwriter and a composer in various genres, including R&b, Hip-hop, Latin and pop. Olyia holds a B.A from Bard College and a Masters of Science from Georgetown University.
