Russian balalaika virtuosos Elina Karokhina and Andrei Saveliev performed several concerts with the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center Concert Hall in Washington D.C. Exact address of Kennedy Center: 2700 F St NW, Washington, D.C. 20566. Elina and Andei played the balalaika part in Rimsky-Korsakov's Suite under direction of world-famous conductor Sir Mark Elder. The performance was well received by audience and critics. Most noticed and liked Mark Elder's additions of balalaikas to classical Symphony Orchestra for performance of the "The Legend of the Invisible City of Kitezh" (Russian: Сказание о невидимом граде Китеже и деве Февронии).

Washington Classical Review wrote in the article Elder, NSO explore Stravinsky roots with iridescent performances: Two balalaika players, invited to stand for their strumming solo in the second movement, added an authentic folk music touch to the sounds of the Wedding Procession of Fevroniya, heavy on the sleigh bells and double glockenspiel.
