Russian dance, song, and music ensemble Barynya performed a number of shows in San Antonio, Texas on February 2016. The tour included assemblies at Raba Elementary, Northern Hills Elementary, Riverside Park Elementary, Herff Elementary and Bulverde Creek Elementary schools (Smirnov, Rudoy, Kvasova), a few appearances at social events and formal concert at the McAllister Auditorium, 1819 N Main Ave. San Antonio, TX 78212. Concert at the McAllister Auditorium with full cast: Mikhail Smirnov, Alexander Rudoy, Valentina Kvasova, Anna Brovkina, Olga Chpitalnaia, Ilia Pankratov, Boulat Moukhametov.

Established in 1991, ensemble Barynya presents Russian, Cossack and Jewish traditional dancing and music on instruments including the balalaika, balalaika contrabass, guitar and garmoshka. Barynya has been invited to perform at some of the most prestigious cultural venues in the U.S., including Carnegie Hall, the Smithsonian, the United Nations and the Russian Embassy in Washington, D.C. Ensemble Barynya is available for hire for performing art centers, school assemblies, festivals, colleges, libraries, concert halls, restaurants, private and corporate events as one powerful ensemble or in smaller groups.

On Tuesday, December 1st, 2020 Elina Karokhina (balalaika) and Mikhail Smirnov (garmoshka, guitar, vocals) provided brief virtual performance for Musical Bridges Around the World Facebook Live for Giving Tuesday! Mission to support and bring multicultural performing and visual arts in San Antonio, Texas and beyond. Musicians performed two Russian winter songs and answered a few questions.
